Our Story
Hello, and welcome to Pautauwak Farms!
Pautauwak Farms was started by Tony and Alois Dryak in 1972, in Hillsboro, Ohio. We, (Tony, Loraine and family) are now located in the Town of Garden Valley, Jackson County, in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin. It is an area rich in artifacts and natural beauty. When Tony and Loraine met in college it was apparent to them that they were both birds of a different feather. Their love of the outdoors, and desire to help Mother Earth, as well as to provide sustainable and healthier food choices led them on a life journey with many twists and turns. Pautauwak Farms has evolved as their lives have evolved, and they wish to share the bounty of their labor with you!
Pautauwak Farms is a fully functioning 137 acre, organic farm, and has been converted almost completely to grazing dairy beef cattle. However, it also pastures pigs and chickens (for meat and egg production). The farm has a bee house, which can support 16+ hives, a vegetable garden, orchard, small grain production, and a small maple sugar bush operation. It is a grid tied solar energy producer, and currently is working on passive solar water heating, and wind energy generation projects.
For the last several years we have been working toward a more sustainable operation, and have been developing a direct sales market plan for our meat and produce. Take a look at what we currently have available and consider joining us on this journey. We are dedicated to producing clean products and meats using Old World techniques and emphasizing Heritage breeding. We use appropriate technology methods and animal respectful production and processing. We encourage on-farm tours, and will be posting on-farm photos on our Instagram as often as we can.
